What
are the rules of the BATC?
1. The following are
the Battle at the Canal Tournament rules and shall remain unchanged
during the 2008 tournament season. If any revisions are necessary,
they will be announced prior to the tournament. Interpretation of
these rules shall be left exclusively to the Tournament Director.
The decision of the tournament director shall be final in all matters.
In the event of a rule violation, the tournament director may
impose such sanctions as appropriate including, without limitation,
disqualification, forfeiture of prizes, forfeiture of entry fee and
prohibition from participation in subsequent tournaments. It is at
the tournament directors’ discretion to make a change where
safety of the contestants is a concern. Any announcement made at
the tournament site takes precedence over written rules. All federal,
state and local laws must be obeyed and it is the contestant’s
responsibility to know these laws. Failure to read these rules or ignorance
of them is no excuse. Battle at the Canal Tournament Series reserves
the right to reject any entry that is not in the best interest of
Battle at the Canal Tournament Series.
2. There is a five (5) fish
limit (No Largemouth or Spotted Bass smaller than 14 inches or no
Smallmouth Bass smaller than 18 inches shall be brought to the scales
for weighing.
3. All fish will be measured using a Golden Rule

One (1) dead fish will be weighed with a half (1/2) pound penalty.
5. You can NOT be late to weigh in. You will be disqualified
if late.
6. Only Largemouth, Smallmouth and Spotted Bass will be weighed.
7. The Tournament Director reserves the right to refuse, and/or not accept any fish from any team they deem have violated any of the tournament rules.
8. The permitted fishing areas are Fort Loudon and Tellico Lakes. NO locking through is permitted.
9. A short fish will result in the loss of the small fish and the largest fish of the catch at the Tournament Director's discretion.
10. No culling of fish past the official end of the tournament. This includes, but does not limit, the boat ramp, boat on the trailer, or any time prior to weigh in.

Are team member substitutions allowed?
All substitutions must be a member of the Battle at the Canal Tournament
Series. One member of a team must be present to acquire points. In the
event a team splits up the points will be divided in half.

What are the qualifications to fish the BATC Classic
Tournament?
The top 40 in points along with anyone who has fished 13 tournaments will
be eligible to fish the Battle at the Canal Classic Tournament. Others can particparte after the Tournaments Dirtectorrs review and approval.

Who has to take a polygraph exam?
A polygraph exam may be given at
any time to any competitor for any reason the Tournament Directors see
fit. In the event that any competitor refuses to take or does not successfully
complete the polygraph exam he or she may be disqualified and forfeit any
and all winnings and points.
Also, he or she will be prohibited from further competition in the Battle at the Canal tournament series.
Sportsmanship
Competitors in the tournament are expected
to follow high standards of sportsmanship, courtesy, safety and
conservation. The laws of good judgment and sportsmanship as well
as courtesy toward others on and off the water will be adhered
to at all time. Any infraction of these fundamental sporting principles
may be deemed cause for disqualification or other penalty. Use
of alcohol or drugs, other than those purchased over the counter
or prescribed by a licensed physician, by any competitor during
the tournament will not be tolerated and shall be cause for automatic
disqualification for this and all future tournaments. Maximum courtesy
must be practiced at all times, especially with regard to boating
and angling in the vicinity of non-competitors who may be on tournament
waters. Any act or inflammatory statement by any contestant that,
in the opinion of the Tournament Director, is detrimental to the
operation of tournament, damaging to organized bass fishing, to
the Battle at the Canal Tournament Series, or any of its sponsors,
or to permitting agencies or their officers (such as TWRA officers,
fishery biologists, etc.) during or after the tournaments may result
in temporary or permanent suspension from all future Battle at
the Canal Bass tournaments. Any act of a competitor, which reflects
unfavorably upon the efforts of the Battle at the Canal to
promote fisheries conservation, clean waters, and courtesy, may
be deemed reason for disqualification. No alcoholic beverages or
other stimulants or depressants, prescription or otherwise, shall
be allowed in the boats during competition, or when in the weigh-in
area. Chemical substance addiction or abuse, conviction of a felony
or other crimes involving moral turpitude, or other conduct reflecting
unfavorably upon the efforts of the Battle at the Canal to promote
safety, sportsmanship and compliance with tournament rules shall
be grounds for rejecting any application for participation and
for disqualification.
